Sending 1st child to school while in the hospital?

Question

Our 1st is starting pre-K in September and I am debating keeping her home if I happen to have the baby during the week. What does everyone think? She would be staying with grandparents for the 2-3 days I'm in the hospital. I'm just not sure if she will be able to concentrate on school and not the fact that mommy isnt home. (plus my husband doesn't like the idea of leaving me in the hospital alone ☺) I thought of having grandma stay at our house and having my husband put her to bed then coming back once shes asleep. The hospital is literally 5 minutes from my house. I'm at a little bit of a loss on what to do.

my daughter starts Pre-K at the end of August and I'm due late October, so she will be in the swing of school  by then. we were planning on having MIL come and stay with us. I'm going to keep her on her same schedule. grandma can get her ready and dropped off to school and pick her up. depending on when I give birth/go into labor I want my husband to go back home and help her get ready and reassure her in the morning before school and also be there for dinner and bed time.

Our 5 year old starts Kindergarten this fall.  I think they thrive on consistency and school will be the best thing.  Have parents on-call, but I would say keep things as normal as possible.

my youngest will be starting kindergarten in August and my older to 3rd and 8th if I go into labor at night my neighbor will come sit with them but they will stay home the next day if a school day and will get them off the bus if it's during the day. May be find a good person you trust and add them to your pick up list just in case.

Yes, she starts prek in September, and I'm due October 20th. She is also starting at a new school, since preschool was in a other district it will be a lot different than what shes used to. I talked with my mil whom she will be staying with, and she said it might be better to keep her on her new schedule and just send her to school.

as a kindergarten teacher, I think she should definitely go if it's the first few days of school. she'll learn the most about the schedule, get into the swing of things and meet new friends. she may be intimidated being behind even just for a week, especially since kindergarten is scary as it is!

I will have a kindergartener, 2nd grader and freshman in high school (😲) when she arrives. I have a csection scheduled already, and will let them stay home that day (a wednesday). my in laws will be at my house the rest of the week and they will go to school the next few days.

Pre k is a little different situation than my other kids... they are older so they HAVE to be in school. I’m due beginning/mid October and the plan is to have my in laws stay at our house with the kids while I’m in the hospital. 
I’m not sure what I would do if I were in your situation. It depends on how your other child is... if they’ll be upset and fixate about you not being home, I would send them to stay at the grandparents house and it’ll be okay to miss school. If they’ll be content with you not being there, I would have the grandparents stay at the house so routine stays the same and they can go to school. It really depends on what your other child is like.

my son is going to be in 4th grade and I am not sending him to school the day of my c section. my parents got a hotel nwar the hospital and will be keeping him there with them so he can visit whenever. It's also at fort myers beach in Florida, lol, what better mini vaca for them. if I go into labor before then we have a strict plan where my fiance is to pick up my son from school before anything else. I can get to a hospital without my fiance, but do not want my son stranded if I have to go.

Very similar situation here. My daughter starts pre-k at the end of August and I’m a little anxious about working out the whole school situation for her while in the hospital. I’m honestly considering an induction again because I can at least have a planned date for things to transpire.

My son starts kinder this year and if he’s in school and I’m in labor my parents will be picking him up and he’ll be staying with them untill I get discharged his school is like a mile away from their house so it’s convenient for them as well
