Nexplanon ?

Question

I have an appointment August 14th to get Nexplanon inserted in my arm. I’ve read a lot of bad reviews on this but figured it’s worth a shot since it’s completely free and covered by my insurance. What were/are some of your main side effects? Is it painful when they insert it ? How do they remove it ?? Just tell me everything so I can prepare myself !

Getting it put in isn't really painful at all. The local anesthetic burns like hell as it's administered, but after that all I felt was pressure as they inserted the implant. Recovery was pretty easy, but I was very sore after the anesthetic wore off.
My side effects were crazy at first. Sore, swollen breasts, unwanted weight loss, acne, mood swings, you name it. But all of that calmed down after about a month or so. Now I just have mild-moderate acne and irregular bleeding, but I think that might be starting to regulate after six months.
Haven't had one removed yet, so can't really speak to that, but I'm pretty sure that as long as it was placed correctly to begin with and hasn't migrated, all they do is numb you, make a tiny incision, and then pull it out.

I’m getting mine out after over a year and switching to the pill. Getting it was not that painful (I’m more scared to get it removed). The main reason I’m getting it removed is because it has turned me into a crazy b*tch I feel like. Besides that, periods weren’t terrible except like 3 times when they’d last 2 weeks or longer. But most lasted 3 days if I got one. And it’s great at preventing pregnancy.
