When do you take the paci away?

Ive had so many people give me a different answer and im just curious what other people do. I think older than 2 is too old personally but my daughter is 7 months old and i keep getting casual hints like “it may be able time to take her pacifier away” 🙄 just curious 😊

They don't start to affect dentition until 18-24mo, when the time comes you just cut the tip off the paci and they no longer get the sucking satisfaction from it and they'll give it up!

You take it away when you’re ready to take it away . I didn’t completely take my son’s away until after the age of 1 . Every child is different . You as the parent , make that decision and don’t let other people force you into something you’re not ready to do.

We don’t take them away until around 2 years. If you’re going to take it away before they’re 1, I guess I don’t see the point in giving them one to begin with. I’m okay with my infant or small toddler using a pacifier as a comforting mechanism. After a year, we try to limit paci time so it’s not in their mouth 24/7- but I am all for using it when needed or to sleep. Around 2 years old we usually take it away because biting starts or they’re just better sleepers.

I hit 0-3 just to see results 😝... my LO is 5 mo & still uses it, but only for sleep. I’m not a big fan of kids walking around with pacifiers in their mouths, but at nap & bed time I don’t see an issue past 1. Maybe somewhere in the 1-2 age range I’d probably try to get rid of it all together.

once my daughter hit  4 months she refused the pacifier. i honestly thought she was gonna want it longer. if she did chose to want it longer then i would let her have it. but once her teeth start coming in that’s when i was gonna take it away from her just bc i don’t want her teeth looking all weird and spaced out

After he turned one we only let him have it at bedtime or when napping. We took it away completely at age 2

my son never really liked one, but if my daughter likes hers I will take it away by a year. I dont want it messing with their teeth.

My daughter just turned a year old and I plan on starting to take it away in the next couple months. The only time she gets it now is when she naps and at night

I think it depends on how dependent your child is on it. My son would cry many times at night if it fell out and no one was sleeping so we took it away at 4 months. He adjusted really quickly.
