What’s the point in a baby registry?

I am not here to complain about what I get. Literally anything (so long as it’s useful) is appreciated. 
What I don’t understand was I was not going to make a registry for my baby shower and told people to feel free to buy essentials. (I thought this was good because they could all just choose something they could afford, diapers, washcloths, etc.) 
Everyone made a big deal about making a registry. “It’s easier.” They kept saying. 
Okay... so I dragged my preggo butt to Babies R Us during a heat wave by myself because my husbands schedule is crazy and made a registry. I made sure to keep everything under $100 because I didn’t want people to feel put out. 
Now everyone is messaging me asking me what I need. Everyone has the registry number. Nothing has been bought off the registry. I mentioned to them that I went out and made a registry to make things “easier”.

Still. Every day. What do you need? 
I finally sent out a group text telling everyone to just buy diapers and what they want if they don’t want to buy things from the registry lol.

I understand your frustration. As I have been there, done that, I did my registry all through Amazon so I could do it at home this time. Also, when friends and family have babies, I buy one small gift prior, then ask what they still need after baby is born. Everyone wants to buy the cute outfits and blankets. I don't need 20 blankets, people.

I thought babies R us closed?  Why didnt you do it online?  People are dumb. At least people are asking what you need  Even if it's annoying because all they have to do is pull up your name Or registry number. I put about 50 things on my registry not really needing everything just making sure there was variety on their for people to pick from and I got 3 or 4 things from it !! I couldn't believe it but too blessed to be stressed.

See!! Lol i told my mom and bf that making a registry was pointless!!! Baby shower is next week and no one has bought anything from it..yet. I’ve been wanting to buy her crib, car seat, stroller and diaper bag since I was 28 weeks lol everyone’s telling me to wait and see what we get.. (highly doubt any of those!) last thing I wanted to do was put stuff together at 35 weeks. When I could’ve had it all out the way already.

Yep I’m in the same boat. I put so much energy into researching the items I wanted and put them on the registry. Thankfully I did it all from the comfort of my home (Amazon) but it’s still frustrating to put in all the effort for no one to use it. I’ve just been trying to look at it from the perspective that it’ll be a list of things I still need after my shower, and since I get a discount on my registry items at least my hard work will pay off when I buy the remainder of the things I need.

Ugh my cousin asked me today what 'big' item I still needed that wasn't on my registry. I told her everything I still need is on my registry and I have everything else I need. She got super upset and became passive aggressive. 🤷‍♀️Why would I purposefully leave something I need off of my registry? I really don't get it.

Hahahaha let me tell you something I feel you. I was the same way, although they shut down baby r us where I live! So I made it simple and said wipes and diapers because that’s mostly what I needed. Well I got lots of cloths and couple diapers but I got a boat load of wipes. 🤣🤣 I have enough wipes till he’s a 1 year old

I am also In Canada and I honestly only did the registry for the 25$ gift card lol. I don’t plan on telling anyone about it unless they ask but I am not someone who likes to ask for things so I think I’d be uncomfortable telling people I made a registry. I think if someone wants to spend money on something for my baby I will just let them get whatever they want and be grateful for it. Of course if someone asked specifically what I needed I would say you know something general like diapers or size 12 month clothing but I kind of enjoy seeing what people buy. Sure you may not need it or love a particular item but mostly I think it works out.
