Anyone got experience of possible TTTS at 16 weeks?

I just had a scan because at our 13 week scan the sonographer wasn't 100% sure if it was only one placenta. At today's scan (16 weeks tomorrow) they said it definitely is one placenta (so identical, higher risk) and twin 2 is 15% smaller than twin 1. They also saw some gaps in the Doppler reading from the umbilical cord. I've got to go back next week and the consultant said it might just resolve itself but that it could also be early sign of twin to twin transfusion syndrome. I'm really worried. Anyone else have this and it turn out not to be a serious problem? Thanks

I’m not having identical so it’s not Twin transfusion but one of my babies is growth restricted. Since 28 weeks they noticed she was rather small and not growing like the other baby so since then I’ve had weekly non stress tests and weekly ultrasounds, one week is growth the next week is just to check the Doppler’s. My girls are at a 15% difference and have been about that percentage since all this started. So she’s still growing just a bit slower and the other baby will grow slower one week too so it’s keeping that percentage down. I’m almost 34 weeks so we’ve been dealing with this for about 6 weeks and still going strong. It’s just a lot of monitoring which has been exhausting and a lot of ups and downs each week.

Hi! I’m currently 25 weeks pregnant with mo di  twin boys and my entire pregnancy up until 16 weeks, my OB couldn’t see separate membranes between the babies. She was concerned they were mo mo twins so I was referred to a high risk OB, MFM, etc. got my first ultrasound through them at 17.5 weeks and was told they were not mo mo twins, they were in fact mo di BUT that their fluid levels were unequal and showing signs of stage 1 TTTS. I was given all the info, told what could happen, scared out of my mind, and told that I had to have weekly ultrasounds from that point on to continue to monitor the fluid levels and make sure each baby still had a visible bladder and stomach. Everything stayed stable each week until about 20 weeks.. the fluid levels started to even out on their own. Our baby B was no longer stuck and had gained fluid and since then, everything has been so great!! It’s truly been a miracle. I’m only having to be seen every two weeks now, and the past two times their fluid levels have nearly been the same. I was expecting the worst with this situation, everyone and everything I’ve read has kind of been stories of things going down hill and fast. I don’t know if my case has been pure luck, or if it’s rare, or what but I just wanted to share to hopefully reassure you that there is hope that this CAN and possibly will correct itself!

I am currently 24 weeks and was diagnosed with Stage 3 TTTS at 16 weeks. I had a laser surgery procedure at 16w3d and it has been successful.
Just make sure you are being monitored very closely and very often. It can happened suddenly and go from bad to worse very quickly.

I am 26 weeks with modi twin boys, my twins share a placenta but two separate amniotic sacs. I found out very early I was having twins and that they were identical and there were complications involved. I started seeing a MFM doctor along with my regualar OB. everything was going great until my appointment at 21 weeks I went it for a scheduled appointment with my MFM and she did an ultrasound and told me baby A had too much fluid and baby B had none. there was not a big difference in growth but she said my twins had TTTS and whatever had happened with the blood vessels had happened very quickly. that night I was sent to Texas Children's Hospital and a Laser ablation surgery was performed at 1 am to separate the blood vessels in the placenta that my boys were sharing. I stayed in Houston for 3 days and over the next few days my babies fully recovered, I was told when I got to Houston that both were very sick and my only option was surgery or I would lose both babies. it has now been a month since I had the surgery and I saw my MFM last week and she said both babies look great and are back on  track. I am praying for you and hope everything goes well and it is not TTTS but if it is there is hope and so many things that can be done it's amazing actually what they can do! My twins TTTS happned suddenly not over time, from what I have read most of the time it happens over time and there are many options for survival. prayers for you and if you need you can message me
