Do Pap smears hurt??

I’m 19 and have never had one but the obgyn doctor wants me to get one and I’m super nervous about it because you’re not supposed to start getting them until you’re 21 and my mom is a really strict and always follows the rules type of person so she scheduled me one... HELP!!! Any advice? I have ovarian cysts and endometriosis. Will either of those effect the way this will feel??

It doesn’t hurt.. it’s just pressure and as always weird. But it’s pretty quick! I’ve gotten one every year since I was 17.. and I’m 33. You’ll be fine!

I’m 15 and have gotten pelvic exams multiple times over the last year and the worst part is the speculum, but its still just uncomfortable at most. 
And it’s all over after a minute or so, so you should be fine 😊

No, it isn't painful.  The most painful part of a pelvic exam is when the doctor sticks their fingers in there and squishes your stomach.  I hate that shit.  But a pap smear is just whenever they swab your cervix with a long q tip looking thing.  It doesn't hurt at all.  The part where they pry open your vagina is only painful if you are a virgin.  Even then, its still not really painful for everyone.

They are uncomfortable and a bit awkward but nothing unbearable. I got pregnant when I was 18 and had my first one then. I have had a few since because I’ve had three Littles back to back.
