Bed bug scare?!?

Question

My friend just called me and told me the house I helped her move into 3 weeks ago has a bed bug infestation! Now I can’t stop itching and worrying that I brought them home. I’ve been to her house maybe 3 times since then! 
How long will it take for me to know for sure that there are no bed bugs at my house that hitched a ride on me? 😭

My aunt and uncle had the worst bed bug infestation I have ever seen- and didn't tell anyone so it spread around to 4 or 5 houses before they mentioned it was coming from them. Our rv was one of them since I used to visit them once a week. we had to heat the RV to over 120° and sit in it waiting for them to start freaking out and kill them. took us 2 days to kill them all. Finally my sister convinced my aunt and uncle to let her pay an exterminator to come out to their place- 1st one said he wouldn't touch it bc it was so bad but the 2nd guy sprayed everything down and repeated the process at 3 week intervals until he saw no further signs. He said they were living in the walls aznd coming out at night to feed. I saw how bad it got for them and I haven't been over there since.. I feel bad but I also feel that since they didnt mention it- there is always the risk of it happening again and i just CANT go through that again. 
exterminators will come out to inspect your place for free btw-call one to be sure.

i worked in ems and used bed bug spray to spray my work clothes before coming home. ibce u got home i took my clothes off by the basement door and put them straight into the wash with hot water. i worked in a rural community with high poverty levels and a bunch of bed bugs. however just doing that i neber had them in our home. we do get our home sprayed regularly as my hubby got his license to do that! but that was just recently. i recommend the bed bug spray. at least for peace if mind.

I just went crazy looking for their shedded skins and poops and I’m gonna keep looking once night time strikes. Changed all linens and washing all pillows for peace of mind. 
My two main concerns are these,
My friend said “we are gonna have to stay at your house while ours gets treated” and I’m thinking oh god nooo. I don’t know how to say no, they have nowhere else to go and can’t afford a hotel... but I don’t want them coming into my house with their shoes and clothes from their home.
Also, my friend was going to watch my son while I’m giving birth (due the 27th aug) and I don’t want him going over there any more with this problem, knowing it won’t be 100% fixed in just a month from now!

They don’t really come out during the day so an adult bug is unlikely to have hitchhiked on you, but they lay their eggs in couch cushion seams, along baseboards and such and those could have gotten on to your clothing or items. Unless your friend has a rather large infestation I doubt you picked up anything. If you have brought any furniture or anything from her home into yours then you could have a problem. They feed on blood and have a distinct bite pattern, so if you start to find yourself with bites in the morning call an exterminator. You can check around the seams of your mattress and headboard for them or the eggs.

oh nooo 🙈 I hope they didn't hitch a ride with you! you can check at night in the creases in the sides of your mattresses with a flashlight. you would see them there but it has to be night time usually to spot them.
