SAHM's what do you do with your 1 year old?

I am a fairly new SAHM, since mid April and my son is 13 months old. I live in Florida so going outside is limited to small periods of time due to heat or the rainy weather. I often feel I'm not "doing enough" with my son during the day. what are some activities you do to take up your day?

Okay I feel ya. I’m home with my 13 month old all day, everyday and the heat outside is killer. We do a lot of “dance parties” where I’ll pull up YouTube and find songs and we’ll dance to them. I just make a point to play with him, if he’s playing with his toys or whatever I’ll play with them too. You don’t have to do anything or go anywhere special. Just be there with your child and you’re doing more than enough.

Do you guys live near an aquarium? We’ve been taking our twin 1 year olds there a couple times a week to avoid the heat outdoors.

Sing songs, read books, talk - a lot, name shapes and colors, sing abc's, count (count 1 - 5 until learned then go to 10 etc). This is also a good age to start using crayons.

I start my day with library story time, then pool time or the gym (they have a huge kiddie play area), then we come home and if he is still wired we play outside in his kiddie sprinklers or water table. That’s it for the “dirty” part of the day. He’s drinking and snacking all morning, when we come in from that we both have a shower and I make us some lunch. Then it’s winding down time. I put on an episode of Mickey, and he has a nap. If I have any errands to do outside of the home, I’ll do them after we’ve both refreshed and then we will do some kind of sensory activity like play-doh or paint, and play with his toys. After dinner it’s just free-play, books, and I’ll let him watch some more tv. He also goes to daycare 2 days a week while I work, so I try to reinforce whatever he’s been learning.

I live in TX. it's been over 100° the last 10 days and there was a grass fire that's pushing smoke near us so we've been hunkered inside ALOT! I'm not much for driving especially with twin toddlers and by myself so I've been using Pinterest alot for ideas. We dance, I tape a "highway" on the floor and push their little people's cars, we have a play room with a crap ton of toys, they have a white board and I draw an animal each day and I ask them "where's the sheep?" and the run to it. We read, take empty wipe boxes and paint them different colors and they put ball pit balls in the matching color boxes Chalk outside when it is nice, they "help" with choirs and love it, I put them in their high chair with crayons and paper to color so I can clean the kitchen. Sometimes our bath tub becomes the pool lmao! Use you imagination! Kids love doing different games so you can make anything fun lol. Also, check and see if there's a children's museum near you. We have one and I try to get them there so they can play with other kids.

I live in Florida too! I live in orlando so we utilize the water parks and splash pads this time of year. We also have a sprinkler for the yard but I hate using it because my yard has ants. We like blowing bubbles, painting, and coloring with markers outside/in the shades areas of course. In the house we just color with crayons,clean, work on colors and shapes, play with her toys, read, sometimes watch a movie if its gloomy out, listen to music, etc. sometimes we make spontaneous trips to theme parks, zoos, and beaches but it depends on our budget for the month.
