Thoughts on depo shot?

I have an iud currently but it is causing lots of complications. Random pains, ruptured cysts, etc. I’m thinking of getting the shot. Is it effective? Do you like it?

Depo caused me to have a period for 6 months straight. Luckily I didn't become anemic but I did become depressed like never before. I'm all better now and have a Mirena IUD. Some people love Depo though. If you're looking for something to use for a long time, don't use the shot though, you shouldn't use it for more than 2 years unless it really is a complete last resort.
