Is there a birth control that’s a shot that you get once every five years?

If yes, what’s it called and have you used it? Do you recommend it? I’m looking for a simple and easy birth control that I don’t have to worry about. I didn’t like the iud because it caused so many problems for me and major cramping for a full year till I had it removed.

The only shot, in the U.S. anyway, is the depo shot which u get every 3 months. That said, I do not recommend it at all! It’s overall bad for ur body, especially the longer ur on it. U could look into the Nexplanon arm implant & see if that would be an option for u. Or, try a different IUD. Or, the patch or vaginal ring.

I don't know about once every five years but I do know that the Depo shot works well... I have only been on it my self for 2 months but so far I like it... I haven't had any weird or crazy side effects.. you do have to go back in every three months but my OBGYN gave me a chart to use to help me keep track!

Have you looked into Nexplanon? It's not a shot method of BC but if you're looking for something that requires no work it's definitely the easiest.
