Gestational diabetes?!

Hey beautiful mamas! 
I have a question.. I'm a FTM, and 29 weeks today. I was diagnosed with GD at about 18-20(ish) weeks. I've never personally had and kind of Diabetes(until being diagnosed), however it does run in my family-type 1 & 2.
I was just wondering how long after giving birth does GD last? Is it gone immediately, after bleeding stops, a certain time frame?

a little scared because i’m in the SAME predicament ! praying that t goes away immediately after birth cause this is hell 😭😭 i’m used to eating whatever i want and my fingers are all pricked up 😭😭😭

Most of the time it’s gone after you deliver. They’ll normally have you do a 2 hour glucose test at 6 weeks to reverify it’s gone. 
Of note though is that your chances of Type 2 in 5-10 years becomes like 60%, and if you have GD with subsequent pregnancies that risk increases :)

If it’s truly GD (and not underlying diabetes) it should go away as soon as you give birth. When baby’s placenta is out, your blood sugar control should go back to normal. 
If it doesn’t- chances are you has Type 2 and didn’t know it or had some type of previous blood sugar issues.

I have GD and I’m a FTM. I have been diet controlled since 28 weeks, but it was very hard from around 30-35 weeks. I ate meat, veggies and limited fruit. No sugar or carbs from anything else. But by 36 weeks it started getting easier. Now I can add in some potatoes, beans, rice, some bread, or a tortilla here and there. So, if it continues to get easier, I bet the day or so after delivery I should be back to almost normal! Fingers crossed we all are! (37 weeks & 3 days currently)
