Not 12 weeks?? How come?

Went for my first scan yesterday. Little heartbeat and all is ok. My first day of my last period was 03rd of May. The baby was measured and I was told 9 weeks 5 days. Couldn’t my baby just be very small for its gestational age? 😂 I would just like to know how the weeks can be so far out?

thats so annoying. but great baby is good. just think baby is well a few weeks suck, but so long as baby is ok thats all that matters xx

I know the feeling of being a little concerned about this! I was supposed to be 12 weeks today, but my doctor told me I probably ovulated really late because baby is measuring at 10 weeks 3 days. I guess it's totally normal to have the dating off in the earlier scans..

Weird! I read somewhere that babies generally all grow at the same rate until 12w which is why they take those dating ultrasounds so seriously. Hard to believe you ovulated over 2 weeks later than you thought you did. Who knows—maybe the tech measured at a bad angle? Lol. During your later ultrasounds the technicians will tell you what percentile your baby is growing relative to the age. Would be interesting to know if your baby comes in consistently high (like >75% on all counts). 
Sounds like the dating US is pretty accurate though. Mine came in almost a week younger on the dating scan than expected! No wonder I had trouble reading my BBT chart...🤨
