Preparing for postpartum mental illness again?
We’re trying for baby #2 starting now, ovulation and testing in August.
I have GAD and had awful postpartum anxiety and depression with my son but a lot of it was related to breastfeeding.
I was in a birth center the first time around and even though the birth itself was amazing I know I need more help postpartum so we’ll be in a hospital for #2.
I know a LOT more about my postpartum problems and am hopeful that even if I experience it again, we’ll know how to handle it better.
I’m going to talk to my psychiatrist about it and let her know when I give birth so I can take my medication if I need it again.
Besides that, what else can I do to prepare for postpartum anxiety and depression?
I’m not scared or nervous about it but I just want to make sure I have resources in place. Should I talk to my midwife about it? Let them know beforehand?
Thanks!!
