2 years of him being in the friend zone before I knew what I was feeling wasn’t just a normal male/female relationship. For him but he loved me from the day he met me but he was happy with us being friends as long as he was still in my life even if it hurt him watching me be treated like shit and getting cheated on. With my ex ex I thought it was love at first sight but it was just lust that turned into hell.

The first time I looked at my husband I knew he was the one. I met him through a mutual friend, Rebekah, in high school. Rebekah walked me over to their hangout spot and as soon as I saw him, I thought he was the one. I started talking to him. We talked for about two hours even after Rebekah had left. I asked for his number and later asked him out that night. He said yes. We've stuck by each other ever since.

2 weeks. I knew the day I met him that I wanted to always have him in my life. Over the next two weeks I began to realize that this is the man I want to marry. I have never said that about anyone else. I told my bff so that one day, on our wedding day, she can reassure him that it was heading in this direction all along. He has some insecurity because of previous relationships, so it’s hard for him to believe that I want to be with him forever. I have told him to just wait and see.

About 2 months. I usually give myself a grace period of 3 months before I start to really let myself develop feelings because of lust taking over, but it was a different feeling completely with him and I knew it wasn’t just lust.

When we kissed.  It was like magic.  Really that sounds cheesy I know but think about this for a second.  We both had job and family obligations that made our relationship rather tricky to start off.  We started off as friends and coworkers.  Usually I wouldn’t recommend dating anyone at work like ever but in our case it just happened.  Really.  We hung out with mutual friends and coworkers until one evening...we kissed and BAM!  The lightbulb went off!  I don’t remember what else we did that night either.  Just that kiss.  He’s been my best friend really ever since we met and we’ve dissected our relationship to pieces over and again a number of times to be sure we’re on track with each other and we’ve been married for 18 years now and we’re happier now than when we got married!  
Don’t settle.  Be happy!  You and your partner deserve it
