My SIL made her two door work until she upgraded when my niece was almost four.

I had a two door car with a 7 and 2 year old. 
It totally worked and I would still have it now if it wasn’t for the buggy having to come into pieces to fit in the boot.

Do what you have to. If that two door is too much of a pain then get a new car. Id see how it goes first though as you may surprise yourself. Personally I have a tiny car (but it is a 4 door). Everyone keeps telling me I will want a bigger car and while they are right Id rathet get creative with my tiny car Id rather do that than bite the financial bullet of buying a new car.
