Do you have to stay in the hospital??

After you have a baby , do you actually have to stay in the hospital for two days ? I would just rather be home with both my babies .

it depends on your state. in my state I was required to stay 24 hours because they monitor bilirubin levels.

I had vaginal deliveries. I asked to go home ASAP. Earliest they will release a healthy baby is after 24 hours of age.

I had to stay for the 2 days because bsby had to go to NICU for overnight observation. And I hemorrhaged pretty badly so they wanted to keep an eye on me.
I gave birth 8:51pm on a Thursday, I didn’t get transferred to my other room until 1am because the doctor couldn’t get the bleeding to stop for awhile so it took a bit to get me cleaned up. Then I got a fever and threw up.
They brought baby to me at 6am on Friday and we left the hospital at 11am Saturday.

It all depends!  Usually if you end up with a c-section, they do keep you at the hospital for a while!  Since it is a surgery that you just had to make sure you’re doing good!

Pretty much yes. Even if you are doing good. I think it’s standard. C sections are longer obviously bc it’s major surgery. But I stayed 2/3 days with my c section bc I was doing good

I know insurance is required to pay for48 hours and thats what I did with my son , I’m just wondering if I was able to leave before that .

Depends. If you have a vaginal birth with no complications during birth or afterwards it’s 24-48 hours.personally I was positive for group b strep so I had to stay 48 hours after my daughter was born. For c sections it’s typically 2-5 days

I had s csection with #1 and stayed 3 days. With #2 I had a VBAC but she had some jaundice so we stayed for 3 days as well. Always plan and be prepared to stay, you just never know.

At the hospital I'm going if everything goes well you're allowed out once you and baby have been checked over. A girl I know had her baby at 10:30pm and they let her go home at 1:30am!
