How do you make you own fruit puree?

I have made my own peach and apricot purees and they have come out sour as hell. I followed the pinterest recipes to a tee but it still came out sour. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions or recipes?

You can puree it with some breast milk so it tastes more familiar.

I always added oatmeal or rice cereal to it if it was too sour.

Maybe try adding a little banana or sweeter fruit to the purée to cut any sourness?

Have you tried just blending it? Without steaming it? Fruits have enough water content in them and will just blend right up. And you won’t waste nutrients by steaming them. How old is LO? If old enough to have yogurt, you could add a spoonful of that to help. Either vanilla whole milk yogurt or plain.

I literally just steamed the fruit for a bit and then puréed it adding some of the water I used to steam it to make it the consistency we wanted. Our son seemed to like all the fruits we made except the plums. Those I think came out a little sour so I just added some oatmeal to them to tone it down some and that seemed to help.
