Eating dates to help with labor??

has anyone else heard that eating dates helps with labor? anyone tried it??

Vanilla date smoothie:
Cup of yogurt
Cup of milk or milk sub (I use TJ’s vanilla coconut milk)
3-4 dates pitted & soaked in hot water for about 5 mins
1/2 tsp vanilla extract 
Ice
(If my legs are cramping I throw in half a banana)
Blend!
It works best if you blend the dates first with a little of the warm water, then add a little of the milk to blend more once they stick to the sides. It makes kind of a date paste which mixes well in the smoothie.
It’s not supposed to induce labor, but they are supposedly good for your uterus and to help promote a healthy labor.

There is a evidence based study but you should start around 35 weeks eating at least 6 dates a day to soften the cervix. It doesn’t start labor by any means it’s just meant to make labor easier.

Dates are healthy you can have more than 6 they are safe if you want to get in labor.
But if your 7-8 months try to eat less so you don’t get early delivery.
It makes labor fast and easy you can eat some on the way to the hospital while in labor.

I’ve been eating 6 dates/day since week 36. From what I remember reading it’s supposed to help strengthen your uterus and shorten labor. It’s not meant to bring on labor. I’m 39+3 and as of my last dr appt still completely closed.
