Eczema or ringworm? Doc said it’s eczema 🤔
My son had a small red mark that started to appear about a month or so ago. And I thought it was his eczema like the patches he has on his face sometimes. So I treated it the same with lotion and steroid cream but it didn’t help it just kept spreading across his belly. So I showed my mom and she said it looked like ringworms so we took him to the pediatrician. Soon as we see the doctor I tell her about the rash and that he has eczema on his face that I medicate but that doesn’t seem to be the same answer for his stomach. Right off the bat the second I said he has eczema she automatically assumes his stomach rash is just a breakout of eczema. Never even considered it could be anything else. Well she advised me to continue treatment like I was already doing and that I should change his body wash. So I did and it is only getting worse so I took him back to the ped today and it’s the same doctor as last time. (We went then and now during urgent care hours so it’s not his regular doctor). She’s still sticking to the story that it’s eczema even after I showed her that it’s spreading all across his stomach going to his back and arms. I even said I’m pretty sure it’s ringworm and she still didn’t want to admit she was wrong the first time and didn’t properly rule out what the causes could have been. So she’s like I’ll be right back and leaves for quite some time and when she returns she said well I’ll give him some anti-fungal medicine for you to try but I thinks it’s eczema. So she called it in and we left. I wish I would have taken a photo of his stomach this morning it was really red and you can clearly see red rings all over his belly not red patches like eczema. But here is his belly after his first day of anti-fungal cream. There is literally SO MUCH IMPROVEMENT and it’s only been 6 hours or so.

For reference here’s what his face looks like when his eczema flares up. The only places he’s had problems with eczema is on both sides of his face in the same spot and occasionally his forehead. He’s 10 months old and has never had any patches in any other areas of his body. I’ll get a new photo of his sides tomorrow.
