Do you judge names that aren’t traditional/ ones you haven’t heard of

It depends on the name, most names I think are fine even if they’re not to my particular taste, each to their own! The world would be a boring place if we all liked that same things. Having said that, there are a couple of exceptions- 
1. traditional names but spelled in a ridiculous way (eg Jaxxyyne instead of Jackson), I just think if you want a unique name you’re better off going with a unique name rather than just spelling a traditional name incorrectly. Common variations (eg Catherine, Katherine, Kathryn) or cultural names (eg Aimee as the French version of Amy) are fine, it’s the over the top spellings that I find odd.
2. Names that just seem like a joke (eg Candy Mandy Smith or Sugarplum Jones) that will cause the child issues through their whole life then I wonder if the parents really thought it through... these children will enter the real world at some stage, going to school, applying for jobs, etc.

Nope, I feel like every parent should be able to name their baby whatever they want.... and just because I don’t understand something I’m always willing to learn!! I’m not saying there are some names that I don’t like because of course but that doesn’t mean I judge... it just simply means I wouldn’t use it 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️  I feel like most of the time everyone judges names they aren’t familiar with and accuses of “ ruining the child’s life” because you can’t pronounce it the first time... but in reality it just gives an excuse to not learn and embrace something unique and new. Everyone can’t be named “ Emma, Emily, and John” for the rest of eternity.... as people grow names can to....It’s okay to be different 😊

I actually heard on the radio of a study conducted about name prejudices. Now, I’m not sure what the parameters were, if it’s a reputable study, etc. But the results were interesting, and made a little bit of sense. The gist of it was this: people with ‘traditional’ names (James, Michael, Sarah, Catherine) were subconsciously viewed as more polite and competent than people with non-traditional names. I think it had something to do with snap judgements that people sometimes don’t realize are made. I’m sure you could google it and find the real data, again this was just heard on a morning radio show.

Honestly, yes. But really only for names that are spelled incorrectly or weird names that aren’t cultural.

I really REALLY try not to. Anything can be a name. If you like Potato and you name your baby Potato than Potato is a name.  K, whatever. If you want to name your daughter Aliquencia (al-eh-quince-E-ah) I will tell you that THAT is actually really pretty. BUT THERES AN ACCEPTATION TO EVERY RULE, if you want Jaxson or KaIIIVlyn (ka8lyn/“kaitlyn”) than I’m going to say something.

Traditional is subjective. So, I wouldn’t, but people being people they will judge you and love a goofy name a celebrity picks. It’s stupid to me
