STD or normal?

I got a sore that looks like a canker sore in my mouth about a month ago it’s is just now healing up. At the time I first got it i also got a sore throat. It was mild and only lasted a couple days. I have an std screening Wednesday just in case and a dentist appointment tomorrow. Just need opinions on what it could be or if you’ve experienced symptoms thanks.

Canker sores are not an indication of an STI. It is important to note that there are some infections (such as herpes), which have multiple different strains. The strain that causes genital herpes is considered an STI. However, cold sores and some canker sores are also related to the herpes simplex virus, but are not considered STIs because you don't need to be sexually active to get a cold sore or whatnot. Also, although it is great to get checked for STIs, a standard STI panel cannot check for herpes unless you are symptomatic. You can tell them you have a canker sore, but that's hardly evidence of an STI. It just means you may have the mildest and most common form of the herpes virus, a virus shared by over 50% of the American population. So just  remember, not all herpes viruses are the same, and a canker sore (unless it is on the genitals) is not necessarily an  indication of an STI.
