Print and bring birth plan ?!

This is my second baby and I didn’t even think of a birth plan the first time. Now I’m not sure if I should plan and bring one. Or do the nurses not care and just go with the flow. Do they find it easier to care for us if we have it written out for them? I’m currently waiting on cholestasis results so my mind is all over the place figuring out what to do and if I should pack and make a birthing plan! Did you mamas do a birthing pla, why or why not? And I know things don’t always go as planned but not sure if it makes it easier on anyone

Really the birth plan is there as a guide for labor but the baby will decide how the birth will go. I had a birth plan for one of my deliveries and is was helpful the midwife new what I wanted and when I was distressed she would offer things that were on my plan encouraged me to get in the bath because that was on my plan.

I made a birth plan just to make things easier since i may not be able to talk much while in contractions. it covers who will be in the delivery room, who's allowed in after birth, that I want her just breast fed so no formula (unless absolutely necessary) or pacifiers, that my husband will be staying in my room as well as what pain relief methods I'd like, what birthing position, and stuff like that.

I did one for the first time with my third but prior to giving birth I gave it to my midwife to put in my file. I brought it with me in my bag but didnt need to pull it out because the nurses had obviously read it and even reminded me when I was yelling to take my daughter off my chest (natural birth) because they would have to cut the cord which I wanted delayed according to my plan.

I think if you have strong preferences, like not wanting to be offered an epidural, or wanting to labor down once you are fully dilated before you begin to push, it’s good to have those written down so you remember to talk them through with your doctor/nurses. But, it’s ultimately up to your body and the baby how things go, so have some flexibility. If you don’t have strong preferences I don’t see any reason to put together a birth plan.

My mom is a labor and delivery nurse. Her thoughts are to "go with the flow". She's seen a lot of women come with a plan and then freak out when it doesn't happen. It's more than okay to have a plan and preferences, but just have acceptance that your birth may not go as planned. So yes and no?

I did a birth plan and gave it to the administrative office to place in my file when we registered for my delivery. They didn’t even know what a birth plan was lol. They didn’t know what to do with it. But I’m still going to take a copy with me. I know things won’t go to plan, but I like the idea of having my wishes on paper so they have it on file.

I liked the way they did things the first time so I didn’t make a birth plan. Didn’t expect what happened my second time around and it was definitely different than my first but everything still went great
