Biting??

Question

The past couple of days Asa has been trying to bite us. 
We always say please give kisses not bites and he will give a kiss after. 
I’m not sure why or where he picked this up. He’s not in daycare and doesn’t play with other kids unsupervised... 
Advice ? Suggestions? The biting really hurts 😭😭

I think it might be a texture thing- like they just want to see what it feels like to bite soft skin. My son is never bad when he tries to bite, so i think he just wants to see what it feels like. I think telling him to give kisses or hugs is good. Always frame it positively because saying don’t can make them want to do it more, especially if there’s a dramatic reaction- my husband gets hit and bitten more because he always yells and our son always wants to get that big reaction. I’m more boring so he doesn’t care.

We have a set of words. We say “no biting, biting hurts!” In a firm but relatively mild way. We didn’t want to reward the biting with a big reaction. If there’s one nearby we grab a stuffed animal for him to pinch and bite instead and say “it’s ok to bite/pinch teddy, but not mommy/daddy/etc”. It’s been working but it took some weeks!

It’s not something they copy my son doesn’t go to daycare or anything and when I stand him up to pull up his trousers his head usually goes over my shoulder but now he bites and I always have to tell him off but he just laughs. 🙄 I know I’m not intimidating but I have to just shout now that he shouldnt do that

I’m still breast feeding and he occasionally bites me on purpose as he knows what he’s doing and smiles after he does it. I tell him don’t bite Mummy it’s sore. Be gentle taking your milk. I’ve been told biting is a stage they go through x

lol its just something all toddlers go thru they dont pick it up from anyone all of my kids went thru this faze esp. my second child she didnt care who she bit or how old. i would firmly disp. because its not a faze u want them to continue with. So when he bites u make sure he knows its not ok with a firm straight face saying no that hurts and time out or how ever u choose to discipline.
