Guidance on how to start losing weight?

Hi so I’m currently in vacation from school, and while I was in school let’s say freshman 15 hit me twice as hard. I just need some help on how to start losing weight. I feel that I research things and I sort of get overwhelmed because I don’t know where to start. If you need info about me I’m 5’5, 175 pounds and I want to get to 130ish. I was going to try intermittent fasting and counting calories, but counting calories can sort of be hard considering when I cook I don’t have a nutrition chart or anything. I bought a jump rope to try and it gets pretty intense but I don’t really last long. I guess I would like to know how other people have done it?
