What other forms of pain control are there?

I had an epidural with my first and really don't want it again, it messed up my back very badly. But I'm not sure if j can do all natural, I'll porbably try but end up giving into the epi. Are there other things that can give you in between ? They never offered me anything besides an epidural with my first.

There is painmeds offered through the iv but I’m not sure of the name. I had it before my epidural

My hospital doesn’t offer epidurals. Just IV pain meds and laughing gas! If need be I’m really excited to try the gas lol

I had something I think it was caled an intrathekal (no idea how to spell that) the nurse said it will take the edge off and also said it was "old fashond" however I would NOT recomend it. it did take the edge off I could actually tell when one contraction stopped and the other started where before it felt like one big long contraction. but it didn't do much for the actual contractions and I had a horrible reaction after and was convulsing and throwing up. i was not even able to hold my daughter for over an hour because I couldn't stop shaking and getting sick.

Nitrous gas is available at some hospitals, a good alternative to an epi or IV pain meds

before getting my epidural they gave me an Iv of pain medication, it let me sleep through my contractions while dilated to a 5 1/2

they can give you fentanyl or other comparable IV pain meds. I will tell you it will take the edge off but not for long. it fades pretty quick.
