Childproofing House...?

When is it time to begin child or baby proofing our house?  
Does anything need to be done before the baby gets here?

OUTLETS Once while nannying for 18 month old twins they decided it was a game to stick things in outlets and watch adults react 😱 they amazingly never got hurt, but they would always run to the outlet and stick their finger in. I could never turn my back for a second and had to chase them down and pull them away multiple times, they thought it was hilarious.  I couldn’t do very much for discipline as they weren’t mine. It was the worst when they ran for opposite outlets. The family had some covered but not all and they would find them. Painters tape over them seemed to work well as a solution. I guess the biggest thing is to not over react when they go near them or they will get intrigued and this nightmare happens

Not until they're mobile. The only exception is if crib is by the window, make sure that the blinds don't have cords.

when my son started getting around well enough. about 1. my kiddo gets into LITERALLY EVERYTHING! so some baby proofing is absolutely necessary.

We still have rooms we haven’t done and our oldest is almost 3. You really don’t need to do anything until they are able to get around. And those stupid outlet covers do nothing. My son figured those out at 18 months old.

We have only put up a baby gates in front of the fireplace, and at the stairs. Some cabinets will get a lock on later on, but I don’t plan on baby proofing anything more.

I started around 7 months or so when he was crawling and getting in to things. I started with the outlets and then just watched him to see what he got into.

I don't have a child in the house yet so I probably have the unpopular opinion, but I personally don't see the need to babyproof until baby is going to be on the floor. I know a lot of women do it during pregnancy, and there's definitely nothing wrong with being proactive. As far as what needs done probably just the basics like cabinets and chemicals locked up, cords and outlets covered, etc. I know I won't be this thorough with my children but here's an extensive list if you really wanna go crazy lol.

I actually never baby proofed for my 7 year old. She was also never one to get into much. The only thing I did was put a hook on the cabinet with the garbage and cleaners. She never tried to get in it

it all depends on how much you want to childproof your house personally I'm not going to do anything except for lock up a few cabinets but I am also home all day so I'll be able to teach my little one not to touch that's how my mom did it with us but no you really don't need to childproof anything right now while they're still a baby before they crawl
