help me please

hi I had sex last week on the last day of my period. then took the morning after pill a few hours later. now today a week later I woke up to a gush of blood. prior to this ive had no symptoms or bleeding or anything. I also have mild cramping & its still going. what's going on? does that mean the pill didn't work?
