Foreign correspondent: career, thoughts?

Hi all, I’m browsing careers, still in college making the leap to a four year soon. Strongly thinking of going the English/journalism/reporter route. I have been particularly interested in the foreign correspondent career; can anyone tell me about this career? I’m open to any insight or thoughts.
