“Birth Plan” ?!

Question

So what’s the point of a birth plan? I just think of going into the hospital and following procedure as they give me instructions? I honestly am uneducated about birth plans and such... I’m a FTM so🤷🏼‍♀️ Lol. Anyone care to explain this to me? Please and thank you .

Do a lot of research on it. There are choices you can make as a mom. You don’t just have to listen to the hospital staff. They work for you, not the other way around. Here is my birth plan. I had it for my daughter and this babe too. You just have to keep in mind that a birth plan is a guideline but it can always change if need be

Girl no. Seriously, going to the hospital and following the procedure is the worst thing you can do. They do not always have your best interest at heart. They are notorious for forcing unnecessary choices on you that make their life easier but may cause you complications. Please do your research and figure out what the best plan of care is for you.

Well, even with procedure you have options. Do you want an epidural? Or would you prefer laughing gas? Do you wanna give birth on your back or squatting? Do you want your mom in the room or just your husband?
A birth plan lays out your wishes in regards to these choices for everyone to see while you’re far to distracted. It also lets you make informed decisions instead of not knowing your options.
Im sure there’s some sample ones online you can look at. Of course sometimes things don’t go according to plan, but it’s nice to have a wishlist.

I had a whole birth plan with my first daughter. I even had a doula. It’s nice to have a plan to stick too if you have certain wishes...at least that’s what they say. Your plan can include no pain meds, certain visitors, special wishes. HOWEVER if & when the pain gets bad all reasonings,plans & logics go out the window. If you have a plan it will help make sure you don’t make rash decisions under the influence of labor pains. Like I said I had one but labor kicked in & the pain was so bad I didn’t call the doula or follow the stupid plan. I wanted soft music, dim lights...please all I wants was the baby OUT 😂😂😂

I had a birth plan, but it was never followed as my son came 3 months early. 
I wanted an I medicated, natural birth. I spent a week on strict bedrest, pumped full of antibiotics and other drugs, before ultimately giving birth via emergency C-section.
Birth plans are there for normal circumstances. ;) And they help you to be informed. Just be flexible and allow yourself to be okay it things don’t go perfectly.
