babyshower suggestions???

Question

we are having our VERY unconventional baby shower. 
co-ed drop in "open house style" cookout. 
asked for frozen meals in place of gifts (it has actually had a GREAT positive response) 
no cake just dessert table
If gifts are brought we will not do a sit down open time. We may open as they show up or after the shower all together. 
anyway.....what where some of the things that went well at your showers that you recommend??

I LOVE the frozen meal idea. 
The friend who threw our shower organized a small charades game where a few people acted our different baby related things, like changing a diaper or burping the baby. it was very entertaining and not your typical awkward shower game

We had a co-ed diaper shower this weekend. The host organized a few rounds of baby-related trivia with a silly prize, as we are all in the habit of playing bar trivia. It was a fun way to have an activity that connected to the occasion without being overly cheesy or sentimental. We also did a version of “the newlywed game” with funny questions for spouse and me, like “what traits of yours/your spouse do you hope baby gets,” “what traits do you hope they WON’T get,” “who will be better at diapering,” “who will have to teach them about sex,” etc. Lots of fun.

Had the exact same type of party except for the frozen food part... I LOVE that idea!! Wish i had thought of it. 
But yes, the casual open house style and not sitting down to open all the gifts was a success. We got to mingle and chat with everyone which was great!

Same with you. Dessert table went well. No opening gifts for the long “aww cute” drag.  I waiting till i got home and opened on my own time. I did s’mores baggies that were a big hit and sutter home wine with Ghirardelli chocolate as thank you. Do what you want to make it easy and reflect you. I found life is easier that way. Good luck

I agree, we did a diaper party and did not have to purchase diapers for the first 9 months of our 3rd daughter !

It hurt going to the grocery store buying some more diapers !

we did a diaper party! we ended up with 9 boxes of diapers and 7 packs of diapers, plus 6 boxes of wipes and 10 packs of wipes!
