Birth story: Lawson is finally here
After 47 hours Lawson Paul finally made his entrance into the world!
My water broke at about 2 am on July 7, there wasn’t a huge gush in fact nothing came out, I just felt a big pop inside of me. So I went back to sleep and when I woke up and stood up just a little bit of fluid came out but I still wasn’t having consistent contractions. Around 12:30 on the 7th I was leaking more so I decided to go to the hospital to confirm that it was amniotic fluid. It came back positive and I was admitted since it had been ruptured for 12 hours. They started me on pitocin it was very very slow progress I finally got to 4 cm on July 8th around 5:30 pm they broke the rest of my water and stripped my membrane, the pain was very very intense after that. Because I had been in labor for so long I was exhausted and my doctor was concerned that I wouldn’t have enough energy to push him out so she recommended an epidural and I agreed. I really wanted to do an all natural birth but at this point the pain was getting to be unbearable and I really need to rest. I was finally able to sleep and around 10:25pm I was at a 10. I only pushed for about 15 minutes because I was determined to get him out and not have a c section. His head got stuck and his heart rate started dropping during each contraction, the doctor whispered to the nurse that we needed an anesthesiologist to come down because we had to get the baby out right now, during the next two contractions I gave it all I had and got all 7lbs 8 oz of our baby out. It was the hardest but best thing I have ever done. Lawson Paul was born two weeks early on July 8 at 10:49pm!
