Baby drake is here!!
At 2 am on Sunday August 5th my husband and i were headed to the hospital. I had started having contractions a few hours earlier and just felt like I had to poop 😂 for about 3-4 hours I was back and forth to the toilet, in tons of pain. Contractions coming 3-5 minutes apart with random 6-7 minute breaks here and there.
Anyways we got to the birthing center and got checked in and into an observation room. Hooked to monitors. I asked them to check if my water was leaking cause i was leaking fluid that I couldn’t control. No detection of amniotic fluid, they checked and i was 1cm, 90%, 0 station. They kept us for 3 hours to monitor my progression and contraction. Around 4:30 she came in to explain that they couldn’t keep me because I was only 1cm and didn’t progress in the 2.5 hours. My dr said to give me a Percocet and send me home. By 5 we were discharged and headed home. And our nurse said “i wouldn’t be surprised if you were back by this afternoon.” Once home I Slept but still had contractions. Thought the Percocet helped me sleep through most of them. Not the bad ones though sadly. And around 9:30 I woke up because my sister was FaceTiming me and I realized I never let her know that we were discharged and home. We talked for about 20 minutes and my husband got up and went outside. I was order to get a lot of rest and try to rest through the contractions because it could be a day or a week before he actually came. So I was trying to go back to sleep after hangin up with my sister, and all of a sudden I felt a whole lot of pressure and it felt like he made one good kick and a popping sensation. At 10am My water broke and gushed EVERYWHERE. I started screaming my husbands name and my mother in law, who lives with us, was in the living room with my two stepdaughters, she started screaming out the door “there is something wrong with holly” the whole time I’m screaming “my water broke!!” And the girls are in the living room screaming bloody murder. Cody comes running back to our room and by this time I had the blanket thrown off of me and i was scared to move, laying in the huge puddle of amniotic fluid, he helped me up and get a pad and some clothes on. He was so focused on getting me to the hospital, he wouldn’t even let me get our hospital bags 😂 we got to the hospital and got checked into our labor and delivery room and I was 2 cm. About 2 hours later I got my epidural (a little early because he anesthesiologist had a surgery) got checked right after 4cm!! 2 hours later i was at 6. 2 more hours later i was at 9! They waited 30 minutes and I was at 9.5 not long after that it was time to push. My 17 year old sister was in the room with Us. She was literally jumping with excitement. When he started crowning the nurse said he had a lot of hair. My sister looked and started crying “holly he has so much hair” and after about 5 sets of 3 pushes he was almost there! My dr cut me and said after this last set he’d be out! I pushed 5 times instead of 3 and at 6:45pm my sweet handsome baby boy was out and into the world. I was 38 weeks exactly, He was 8lbs 5oz and 21.5 in long! Monday the nurses came to get him for his routine check. And emitted him into the nicu. My sweet boy was having trouble keeping his blood sugar up. He was on fluids and once he kept his blood sugar up enough they started lowering his fluids. Once he was fully off he had to keep them up for 24 hours. Tuesday he got screened for jaundice and it Was 14.5 so they checked his serum levels and it was only 11.2. So he didn’t have to go under the lights. He was completely off of fluids by Wednesday and he kept his sugar up all day. I was discharged on Tuesday. And the hospital let us nest since I was breastfeeding and had to be In the nicu every 3 hours. And on Thursday at 11 am my baby boy was finally discharged from the nicu. We’re home now and he is proving to be an amazing baby. I love him more than anything in this world. He makes my heart feel full. We’ve been to the dr twice because at our 1 day checkup his serum level for jaundice was 15.2. We went back today and it was only 11. We’re going so good. His umbilical cord is already about to fall off. ❤️ anyways here is my sweet boy! Sorry for the super long post
