Do you need a mattress if your using a pack n play for sleeping?

FTM here and just wondering because I was on amazon looking for sheets and they sell mattresses too and I’m wondering if I missed something?

I bought one...the mattress it comes with is extremely hard. I know people will tell you about the warning labels but the mattress is an extremely tight fit like a crib mattress.

The “mattress” that comes with a pack n play is a hard board covered in fabric. It’s hard as a rock and probably extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. There is nothing wrong with using a mattress/pad for it as long as it’s done safely. Of course, the pack n play comes with a warning not to do that, it’s to cover their own tails in the event that anything goes wrong.

No it comes with a mattress. I never used sheets. My son had to sleep on a thick blanket. He likes soft surfaces 🙄

We use a pack and play as well and I bought a quilted fitted sheet to put over the mattress. Made a big difference!

We use the one that it came with. A baby is supposed to sleep on a firm, flat surface. I know everyone is so worried about the baby being comfortable but I’m telling you my daughter never wakes up during the night on the mattress it comes with or shows any sign of discomfort. The only downside to the one it comes with is if they poop or pee on it, getting it out can be a bitch.

I use the mattress it comes with. My pack n play has a warning on the label that says not to use any other mattress. My son’s been using it for almost 2 years and he has no trouble sleeping in that vs his normal crib.

You should 100% get one if you use it for sleep. It's hard as a rock without one, this is my daughter's pack n play / bed (she's 14 months that's why she has blankets btw)
