My sisters little girl got in trouble for coloring a racist picture in school

The teacher says it’s racist because Maddie (who is 5) did not color Princess Tiana black and gave her red hair. She explained to me that Maddie would be kicked out of her class for coloring a black person white. Then asked Maddie why she colored it this way she explained that she doesn’t like to color the skin because it ruins the picture.

Here are more examples. Maddie has red hair so she tends to color all hair red I didn’t feel that this was that big of a deal.

I looked through the coloring book and pointed out that Pocahontis Jasmine Mulan where colored in the same way the teacher replied that those weren’t racist.

Only this was racist

I told the teacher that I didn’t see a problem with Maddie not coloring in the skin color and that I didn’t feel it was racist or a big enough problem that she should be kicked out of class for.

I just find this situation to be way to extreme over how a little girl colors. But I would like some thought and advice on the situation from other points of vows.
