Thinking of my future home, sometimes I want this cozy rustic cabin out in the woods in the middle of nowhere, with big windows and log walls. I want a dirt road and an old fashioned wood stove...

But then there are other days where I want this magazine-worthy hotel-esque modern home with polished floors and central heat and cooling, matching decor, and a shiny glittering chandelier in the dining room...

Can I just have both 😩😝

Both. My house is from 1880 and still have the original timber walls, which we combined with blue/gray colours, stone floor, and some glass features.

I like the warmth and coziness of the rustic vibe but I like the new-ness and all the great amenities of the modern one.

I personally prefer modern, but not to the point of seeming cold/uninviting. I would ideally add some traditional or rustic elements to balance it out.
