To the person who thought I was talking about you in line...

I have never had someone think I was talking about them and me actually not be talking about them..

I was in line at a store we went in to find my special needs sister a bathing suit that she could feel comfortable in because they are all on sale right now. (Original $60+.. got a whole outfit for $20!)

We go up to check out and there were lines everywhere because it may have been tax free weekend I’m not sure but it’s right before school so they were a little busy.

Me and my wife walk up and are chatting we put everything on the counter and I said to my wife “Do they keep the hangers? I’m going to take the hangers off to make it faster, I loved when people did that when I worked retail”.

As I’m folding everything just waiting, us minding our own business and chatting.. the lady in front of us checking out started speaking very loud...

“I use to work so many retail jobs..” she said to the cashier and she named them. Now I wasn’t paying attention to her, she just was speaking loud so we could hear. In my head I’m thinking “does she think I was talking about her.. we literally just walked up, she could have got here 2 seconds before me for all I know” I was like nah why would she be listening to us talk and think it’s about her??

So we check out takes 5 seconds because all he has to do is scan and throw the suits in the bag but the lady in front of us gets stopped by the door beeps and had security have to go through her bags.. she was visibly angry walking away so I’m sure that made her furious.. and she was with her two older sons who look 15-17.. so we walk around them to leave.

We walk out with then shortly after they come out (not sure how far I was already thinking of the next store we had to hit up) and we walk in front of this suburban and •Honk•HONK•Honk• yes she waited for us to walk in front of her car to try and scare us?? Idk...

In my head I’m cracking up/feeling bad because I have no clue why this lady is so mad that I said I use to work retail I wanted to get my clothes ready for the guy when I wasn’t talking loud or in her direction at all

Sorry you were having a bad day lady but if you seriously go around listening to people you don’t knows conversations and think it’s about you.. no wonder your so angry🙅‍♀️🤷‍♂️

*i decided to write this because I have been alive 28 years and have never had this happen to me where I wasn’t saying something rude (or to them at all) and had someone act on there own anger.

Now what happened I could see why she thought I was saying something(I guess) but at the same time we literally just walked up so how could I have had a chance to judge the situation and say rude comments to her... (I’m not upset or angry just wanted to share)

But I wrote this also for others to maybe think the person you thought was talking shit to you... maybe wasn’t at all.

If you think someone is talking crap to you, be nice, because if they are, they will feel stupid, if not, you won’t end up looking stupid.*
