Long-term effects of copper iud? Copper toxicity?

I’ve only had it a few months and it’s been good to me, but I recently heard about women who have had it for years and suffered from copper toxicity it ended up being horrible for them and they’re still recovering and some even passed it down to their kids. Is there anyone who has had the iud and had to remove it because of copper toxicity?

Noooo. 😭😂😭 I’ve had it 6 years, periods are right on schedule monthly give or take a few days. Severe cramping is the only noticed side effect. Oh and heavier flow.

It does not produce enough copper into the body to cause toxicity

I tested positive for copper toxicity and felt like I was literally going insane when I had the paragard. It honestly ruined my life for 6 months until I got it out. Chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety, weight retention etc. The day after I got it out I felt better and have never had those side effects since.

I work in an Ob/gyn clinic & have never heard of long term side effects. I’ve had mine a year now & love it! Period isn’t much heavier than it had been, not much for cramps. I tend to forget I even have it. I highly doubt that is true about passing that onto babies. You also have the choice not to keep it in the full 10 Years.
