Does he like me?

Ok this is gonna be long but I need help😭 Ive liked this guy for quite some time. About a year now. When we started school last year we became friends. He was dating this really sweet girl and they were a great couple. Then they broke up and me and him “talked” briefly. Since I had already liked him this had gotten me REALLY excited. Then out of the blue him and his girlfriend got back together. I was dissapointed but I just let it go. We became closer friends and him and the girl broke up again. Then he started talking to one of my friends. We werent good friends but we hung out every once in a while. Once they started dating she didnt like that we were friends. She was convinced we liked each other and it turned into a huge thing. Me and her hated each other. I still like him at that point but I was good at hiding it. They finally broke up around February I think. I was really happy because me and him had started to fade because of her. After this we became best friends and every once in a while he would just make comments about me being pretty and stuff like that. At one point he said he wanted to lose his virginity to me. And after that we never talked about anything like that again. Then he just started dry texting me. For a long time. We talked less at school. But we were still good friends. I still liked him. Then Summer came and we facetime constantly. He was talking to a girl in our grade but they just stopped. And a few days ago we were on the phone and after we hung up he started talking about how much of a great couple we would be and how im different from all the other girls he knows. He said that he knows were friends but were mature enough to get passed that. Then he just dropped the subject. And hasnt brought anything like that up since. I dont understand. He doesnt know I like him and maybe hes hiding just like I am? What do you guys think?
