First dentist visit?

I was reading that baby’s first dental visit should be by age one! That surprised me. Has anyone taken your LO to the dentist yet? My baby has 6 teeth 😩

No, and I'm not really in a hurry. I brush her teeth as well as let her brush her teeth. She loves it. I will bring her in probably closer to two when all her teeth are in completely so the dentist can actually do something that I can't do at home 🤷 My mom never brought us in that early either.

Mine just got her 4th tooth but when I went to get mine cleaned in August, they said they don’t need to see them until a lot later. I was surprised bc I’ve always heard to take them before they turn one. And she said the first visit it more to get them used to it rather than cleaning their teeth 🤷🏼‍♀️

Not necessary but a personal choice. Most pediatricians do a dental count/Check and flourish in office now at the 1 year check up. They aren’t going to remember going to the dentist at 1 year old to eliminate fear when they knock a tooth out at 5. They aren’t permanent anyway. I have 4 kids, mine didn’t go until kindergarten and have always done fine. I teach healthy habits at home. They were never fearful of the dentist.

Yes, they just had their dental appt last Wednesday. The pediatrician said by 1 is not so much for dental reasons but because if they fall and they knock a tooth out or chip a tooth they will already be an established patient somewhere and you won’t have to wait/use an emergency dentist. We did it at 1.5mo for my oldest and they brushed and flossed and did fluoride. For my 1yr old they just counted her teeth. Either way, taking them now also shows them the dentist isn’t scary!

My son already went when he was 6 months old (he had no teeth then). He has his 6 month follow up on Tuesday so that'll be his second dentist appointment.
