Is it okay for parents to take away their child’s door?

I’m 16 and my parents took off my room’s door 🚪. Apparently they wanted me to clean up my room and I did. They didn’t put it back yet and I’ve been waiting for three weeks already. Since my room is near the hall people in my family (my family is quite big, I have 3 other siblings) pass by my room every ten minutes or so. I want some privacy like when I’m changing and the bathrooms are used. Also without the door my siblings distract me while I’m studying. Thoughts?

But yes, it's okay for them to do that. Can you hang up a sheet while you change?

It’s their house! Maybe next time clean up when they tell you to. Your 16, in fact they shouldn’t have to tell you to clean up.

I’d tack up a sheet over my door frame. Then when they ask what it’s for I’d explain to them that I need privacy when I change, etc. Of course I’d pull it over to the side when not in use so I don’t piss them off. But I do think with you being 16 you need a bit of privacy for getting dressed and such. Other than that it is your parent’s house and you are their child. :/

my mom has done the exact same thing, i understand how annoyed you probably are! i honestly don’t think it’s okay for them to do that. when my mom took away mine and didn’t put it back even after i did what she told me to do i just found it and put it back myself 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's ur parents house, they have all the right in the world to take ur door and keep it for as long as they want. 
I do understand ur frustration, but I am sure if u prove to them that u can keep ur room always clean and u r bei g really nice to them they will give u ur door back. They might just be waiting for u to prove urself to them.

sorry girl but its there house... and you gotta follow their rules so of they say clean your room and they take your door because you didnt then thats your fault only can be mad at yourself... mabye next time you will clean up if you dont like your door getting taken. your almost grown just listen to them and you will be moving out soon and can do whatever you want😆😆

My sister had her door removed for the same reason. But, she was ballsier than I ever was. That girl said enough is enough, and decided that if they weren't going to give her privacy then obviously they wanted to see everything about her so she went full on nude all day. NO SHAME. I swear to God that door was back on in less than ten minutes.
