CD 40 & late

So, I have PCOS and my period is a week late. I know it doesn’t seem long, but with my metformin my cycle is usually 31-33 days and today I’m CD 40. I took one hpt last week and it was negative... should I hold out or call the doctor?

I worry because of the chances of miscarrying with PCOS
