Child support

I'm mildly offended.

S.O. and I are having our first baby tomorrow. I currently work and am finishing up my last year in college and we live about 20 minutes apart at the moment.

This morning she asked me to give 250$ for the baby a month. I accepted and ask her what she's going to use the money for the pediatrician or maybe some other extraneous baby care? She responds by saying its for anything the baby needs and that she doesn't want to have ask me for money every time she needs something.

I'm with her 4-6 days out of the week so I found it odd that she wouldn't think that'd I'd just get the baby what she needs since I'll be around her anyway. She follows up by saying its because I'll be at work or at school and something might happen while I'm gone.

Am I paying child support for a baby I'm going to be seeing and taking care of everyday?
