Wrong Dad - Right Time

Asking for opinions... I’m 36 and self-sufficient... I have a good support network... I thought about it last year and realized that if I was all by myself in the world I could afford and take care of a child... and I desperately want a child and fear that I’m getting too old. My longterm partner wants to give me a child as well (the wording ‘give me a child is his.) He is a great dad to his two teenage daughters but generally a wreck in life (always has money issues, changes jobs a lot, is impulsive and just generally is an emotional child.) I know this relationship might not be forever. I do love him but we just got issues. That being said he is responsible when it comes to his kids. Is it horrible of me to try and get pregnant? We’ve had adult (well as adult as possible) conversations of ‘what ifs’ in terms of me having his child.

I’m scared to bring this up with my friends or family because I’m quite sure they would say ‘leave him; I’m sure you’ll find someone.’ I mean I already have quite a few friends who tell me that. Also worth noting... most all of my friends are either partnered up with a plan or actively do not want marriage or kids... so they aren’t the best sounding boards...
