Are you embarrassed of where you live? Meaning your house, apt etc

Long story short we recently moved out of our house and moved in an apartment which is way cheaper anyway I am pregnant and We are going to have a small get together for a gender reveal my sisters a couple aunts his sisters mom couple aunts. I wanted to do it at my moms place but her house is really small. Then wanted  to do it at a park but thought why don’t we just have it at our apartment? My husband is Embarrassed of where we live! It upsets me because it’s not where you live it’s where your family is and what your place looks like on the inside that matters. I’m just trying to see if there’s anyone else out there that is Embarrassed of where they live. Sorry if I put it in the wrong group

I used to be, growing up. I lived in a trailer and though my mom kept it very clean, it was still a trailer and I was ashamed of it.

Home is what you make of it. If you keep it clean and decorated nicely then you have no reason to feel ashamed. Is it in a bad neighbourhood? Is that why he doesn’t want people coming over?

I live in a cemetery house on the property. I love it and people think it’s awesome 😂 my husband is the caretaker of the cemetery.

I lived in so many different places. I have never been ashamed. Everyone goes through different stages of life that requires different housing. If it works for you and your family, who cares! I love my house now, but we’ve definitely had to live in some ran shack apartments to get where we are now, it’s all about the journey.

I was embarrassed with my old apartment. It was kind of run down and I didn’t realize how much it all bothered me until I lived there for a few months. It didn’t feel clean, even when it was. It was old and maintenance didn’t give a crap when they prepared it for us. They spray painted the counters and the tub—yes, spray painted. The paint on the walls was applied terribly. Our bathroom tile was cracked all over. The cabinets had white overspray and paint drips on them. So I was embarrassed of it.
Now my SO and I live in a different apartment and it’s so much better. It feels and looks clean. I’m not embarrassed by this one at all

I hate my current house and I cannot wait to leave it behind for the guy who bought it to renovate it or burn it down like I always wanted to. 
BUT.. I kept it clean and cute, so I never felt pressure when people came over. Except when a friend told me my fridge was “weird” and “such a poor people thing” because my fridge doesn’t make ice 🙄

I’m not, because we own a beautiful home, but I could definitely see myself having feelings of embarrassment if we didn’t live somewhere nice. We both take a lot of pride in the way we care for and decorate our space.

No I have never been embarrassed by something like that. I live where I live. If someone has a problem with where I live, then what are they even doing in my home lol they can get out. But I think I grew up pretty poor and everyone around me was also pretty poor so it’s just what we all know

I kind of am because it’s my nans house and it’s really old and everything’s broken and need replacing and repainting and basically the whole house needs redecorating lol. I hate having people over because I feel like even when I clean the whole house it still kinda looks dirty.
