My Birth Story

(I should state that my regular OBGYN was on vacation and told me NOT to go into labor. Being the rebellious person I’ve always been, I didn’t listen.)

It all started on Friday, June 29th around 9am. I was 37 weeks and 3 days. I started having contractions that would come and go, getting stronger, but they weren’t consistent. It was strange for me so I decided to go to L&D. Upon my arrival to the hospital I called off work and called my husband to let him know what was going on and told him not to come to the hospital till I know for sure what was happening. After 5 hours they sent me home because my contractions were not consistent enough to let me stay. So I went home. Later that evening my husband and I went to the store to get things for our 4th of July party we were going to have the next day. While we were at the store I kept having horrible gut wrenching contractions that took my breath away but as before, they weren’t consistent so I ignored them.

The next morning Saturday, June 30th, I woke up around 9am to start getting ready for our party. My contractions were at the same strength but this time they were 5 minuets apart. At 11am I told my husband I think we need to go back to L&D. So we grabbed our bags and off we went. I was only dilated 2 and my contractions were 3-5 minuets apart and very strong. They administered pain medications. After 12 hours they stopped giving me pain medication for the contractions. The contractions in my back were so strong I couldn’t talk, couldn’t walk.. I could hardly do anything. We were there for 24 hours before the OBGYN covering for my doctor sent me home. We got home around 1pm Sunday July 1st and to say the least my husband was beyond pissed that I was sent home. We tried taking a nap when we got home because I haven’t been to sleep longer than 20 minuets at a time because the pain was so bad. But the pain was so unbearable at this point I couldn’t even sit or lay still for a couple minutes to even try to sleep. I decided to take a bath to see if that would help. It didn’t. I continued to pace around the house for 4 more hours with contractions 3 minuets apart till I could t take it any longer. I woke my husband up and we decided to go to a different hospital.

We arrived at this other hospital at around 6pm. They admitted me. When the doctor went to check to see how far I was dilated, my water broke. As my water broke it was clear that meconium has happened. Finally a doctor was concerned!

To make the rest of this long story short. I dilated all the way to 9 and wouldn’t dilate any further. So csection it was.

So after being in labor for roughly 52 hours our little baby boy Boston Mikeal was born at 3:02pm on July 2nd 2018 at 37 weeks and 6 days. He was 6 pounds, 12 ounces and 19 inches long.
