Copper IUD cramping?

Question

I got the copper IUD in February but every time I have sex I cramp up horribly. Have any of you experienced that?

Answer

I experienced this the first time I had sex after getting my Paragard. I assume it has to do with the way the IUD works, as the copper cause an inflammatory reaction that kills off sperm or prevents a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterine wall. I'm  not a medical professional though and if you're concerned about it contact your doctor.
