White girl with box braids? Yes or no? And..

Question

I was debating if whether or not I should get box braids.
1) is it offensive that I do it?
2) will I put myself at a higher risk for having them? 
3) is my hair even long enough? 
4) but, really, I feel like I'd look like an asshole because my background didn't rock those braids. It's not in my culture.
I'm the last person to ever be remotely mean or not understanding or supportive of other people. I'm a lover and a fighter, but both for the right things.

Braids have existed in every culture. Anyone who is offended by a hairstyle, espeically one as common as braids, is an idiot. If your hair is long enough, do it.

Same style has existed many years among the Dutch...called Dutch braids. I wish people would stop finding thing to be offended by. Soon we won't be able to eat or cook food not from our culture because it is appropriating...nope. Not appropriating...appreciating. If I eat Indian food or wear Chinese slippers or learn to hula it is because I find those things from those cultures beautiful and wish to experience them. If someone wanted me to share with them something from my culture I would see it as flattering and not stealing or appropriating...

Braids on any race aren’t offensive. It becomes offensive if you try renaming the style or taking credit for a style like Kim K and her boxer braids and how suddenly they were “in style.” I’m not sure what you’re asking with number 2. Higher risk for what?? Number 3, your hair isn’t long enough. And number 4, braids have been part of multiple different cultures. Yes, predominantly cultures of POC, but if you appreciate the history, aren’t trying to make a fashion statement out of it, or take credit away from the styles origins there’s no need to feel like an asshole about it. Bottom line though...it’s hair. You’re free to express yourself and if braids is your thing then go for it.
