Trying for a baby

So my boyfriend and I want to have a baby, so I we had sex before, during and after ovulation but I took two test and they are coming out negative and I have no idea why my period is supposed to start Aug 31st or Sept 1st. Can someone please tell if me this is normal or not I’ve never been pregnant before and I’m a little scared that it might not be able to happen.
