Should I allow my narcissistic mom to be apart of my child’s life?

100% NO. Narcissistic mothers do not change. They only get worse!

MY NM WENT AFTER MY CHILDREN. They have been hurt, abused, & used by her. I have no contact.
Please, Please, PLEASE do not allow her the chance to hurt your kids. 
I WISH I HAD KEPT MINE FROM HER.

It depends on how badly your Mom behaves. I recently reconnected with my narcissistic Mom after cutting off contact for 3 years and the rules are in my favor now. She knows if she misbehaves I will walk away and she wont get to have a relationship with her grandchildren. So my Mom has been good to me and on her best behavior some of her crazy, and playing victim comes through but for the most part she is civil, we don't fight. It has taken a long time to get to that point though. Then there is my friends Mom who is a narcissist and is actively body shaming my friends niece, is very verbally abusive, manipulative, and controlling of the whole family and I personally think my friend and her niece need to cut off contact.  If your Mom is not well behaved around you or your kids and tries to do things to hurt you then it is not safe to have your children around her. Although it's hard the best way to deal with a narcissist is to go no contact and either your Mom will learn to change so she can have a relationship with you or she won't either way keeping a distance  protects you and your kids.

If you don’t think it’s healthy for her to be around your child then you don’t have to let her be. It’s your choice!

My narcissistic mom has always been a part of my children’s lives. She’s surprisingly a pretty good grandmother even though she was never a very good mother. IMO, you should see how she does with your baby, and then make a decision on if she should be in the baby’s life.
