Breastfeeding and sleep schedule
I am a ftm and am still learning the best ways to breast feed. My baby girl is 8 days now and she takes a minute to latch still but is getting better each day. It's hard to latch at times because she is working out her arm and hand movements and they get in the way sometimes. She generally will feed 10-20 min each side every 2 to 4 hrs and poop about half way through almost each feeding. At night I've been trying this system that has worked for a few nights now as far as going back to sleep after feedings. So I feed on one side, change her diaper and burp her, then feed on the other and the goes right to sleep. But during the day when she needs to be awake I will wait to change her diaper until after she finishes on both sides because even though she will fall asleep during most feedings but the minute I change her diaper she is super awake.
So here's my question, is this pattern of putting her down to sleep right after nursing ok as far as a sleeping schedule or will she become dependent on nursing all the time in order to sleep at night? Should I try to feed both sides, change diaper and try other methods to get her back to sleep?
For day naps I don't usually put her right to sleep after feeding unless she's been awake for over 4hrs and isn't going to sleep any other way.
